Reflection
Standard II focuses on desiging digital age learning experiences and assessments. I believe assessment is one of the most critical things in our educational system. Assessments provide us with a great deal of information that we need when it comes to planning what we as educators are going to teach, without assessment, things would become mundane in that there would never be a change in when things were taught. The artifacts I chose for Standard II are activities to increase the knowledge of the student. The United States Learning Activity is a presentation in which students must identify the states after watching a video. The video provides and aspect of entertainment while also promoting the growth of the students' knowledge. The Story Activity is simple, yet engages the learner and helps them to identify items with a different type of learning style than what is required in the first activity listed. The United States Padlet can be used for student that are trying to learn the abbreviations and capital of each state.
Designing digital learning and making sure assessments are up to date are two very important things in today's educational system. As an educator, I seek to find the best way to assess my students in what they already know, and also what they have learned. A problem that I have run into especially with older students is a lack of motivation which causes the assessment to often times be inaccurate. It is a goal of mine to find what can motivate students of all ages to want to learn and be engaged daily in order to have accurate assessments and in turn I will be able to provide a better education for the students.
