Reflection
Standard III has a good deal to do with communication, whether it be teacher to student, teacher to parent, etc. Communication is a strange thing. While we are always communicating through our devices, I think face-to-face communication is something that has dwindled tremendously. As educators it is important that we find ways for both teachers, students and parents to all be engaged and on the same page. The digital age is only going to grow, therefore it is important that we find tools that can accommodate everyone through communication. The artifacts chosen for Standard III, all do a good job of communicating different things to the community, parents, students, etc. While the each deliver a different type of information and present the information in different ways, the overall idea is that each of these tools facilitate communication between the "instructor" and someone else.
Communication is something that I am growing daily in. I went from working with college age students, to working with middle school and high school students. The gap in what and how much I have to communicate is immense. I do find that communicating digitally is extremely convenient and is more likely to resonate with younger students than telling them face to face. As the standard says, I would like to make it my goal to use the digital tools we have in order to increase the communication I have with students and parents.
