Reflection
This standard focuses on the importance of creativity among students which is something that is becoming lost in the digital age. As teachers and instructors it is important that we seek out ways to spark creativity within the student and the classroom. The artifacts selected for Standard I all seek to facilitate and inspire learning in students. Khan Academy is a tool that can be used for a wide range of ages of students and also has a multitude of subject matter. This tutorial that you can explore will hopefully give you an idea of how useful this tool can be in the classroom. The podcast that you will find on the left is just an example of a different type of learning tool that can be used in the classroom, podcasts are great to use for students who may have been absent or those who need to hear the lecture or lesson more than once. The using digital tools in the classroom project is one that I collaborated with fellow classmates on in order to put together a number of different tools that can benefit students in the classroom environment. I think each of these projects display ways in which students learning can be facilitated and inspired.
As an educator and coach, I am always looking for ways to be creative with my students and athletes. I believe it is extremely important that we encourage our students to be creative whether it be digitally or not. I also seek to use collaboration as much as possible in day to day activity, I have found that many times students learn better from each other. I look forward to continuing to spark creativity in the minds of my students.
