Reflection
Standard IV focuses on digital citizenship and responsibility. These are two things that are often over looked. The abuse of the digital world is incredible. As educators, it is our job to be good "digital citizens" and in turn teach our students to do the same. We must hold our students accountable for their behavior digitally just as we would in the classroom setting. The artifacts chosen for Standard IV seek to model professionalism and responsibility. The IT 567 Design Blog shows a number of design assignments put together throughout this program. The canvas course I was able to present to my fellow classmates was so beneficial to me, just having the knowledge and confidence that I was able to design an online class is incredible. Lastly, the class blogfolio, this blogfolio served as a type of "diary" throughout the semester and was a place to communicate with my instructor and peers on different topics.
With social media and so many other platforms, it is not hard to find a lack of good "digital citizenship" and responsibility. It has always been my goal to be a good citizen in the digital world. As involved as our students are in the digital world, as educators it should be our goal to teach them the rights and wrongs of digital etiquette. As strange as this may sound, it is something that is becoming necessary in today's society.
